Moretonhampstead has a good range of day to day and specialist shops, pubs, cafes and restaurant, a Parish church and chapel and a Primary school and Pre-school. The town is surrounded by countryside and moorland walks and there is a cycle path that starts in Moretonhampstead and runs all the way down to Bovey Tracey and onwards to Newton Abbot. The A30 and A38 dual carriageways are equidistant at about 8 miles and Exeter is approximately 12 miles along the B3212.
Through the black painted gate is the private pathway that is owned by Penny Cottage and which leads to the front door, kitchen door and to the garden. Both the main entrance and kitchen doors have slated canopy porches.
An attractive room with exposed painted structural ceiling and wall timbers, a painted lintel above the fireplace which has a slate hearth and a fitted wood burning stove with a lined flue, two wall light points, a former doorway recess that houses a display shelf and double panel radiator, a TV point and eight power points. Adjacent to the panelled and part glazed front door is a storage cupboard which also houses the gas and electricity meters. A doorway leads to the stairwell lobby and kitchen.
This bright kitchen has five windows along the length of its western facing wall plus the part glazed panelled door to the exterior. A granite step leads down to the kitchen level from the carpeted lobby at the bottom of the stairs. The floor is ceramic tiled and there are two single and one double panel radiator, there is an exposed structural beam, six ceiling recessed downlighters and a recently fitted Glow Worm mains gas fired central heating boiler. From the cobbled town square walk towards the Co Operative supermarket and immediately opposite is the entrance to Pound Street. Walk into Pound Street and after about 20 paces on the left is an archway opening. Look into the opening and you will see the black painted gate with a No.5 in white and the name Penny Cottage on the cottage wall to the left.
