Situation

April Cottage is set just off the village square on a quiet lane with only residential access. It is set behind a low stone wall with a gravelled sitting area at the front and a view over to the square and church. Close by in the village is the superb New Inn restaurant, the Drewe Arms pub, the Post Office and village shop. Just a few minutes drive or a half hour walk is the Fingle Bridge Inn riverside pub. Countryside and riverside walks are close by and access to the A30 dual carriageway is only a few minutes drive. Exeter is about 20 minutes to the city centre.

Directions

From the village square turn so that the church is behind you and walk across the road and up the lane opposite past the New Inn restaurant on the right. The third thatched cottage past the New Inn on the right is April Cottage.

Entrance

A flat leaded canopy roof shelters the broad painted latched front door. To either side of the door is a gravelled sitting area facing south east and these are bounded by stone walled planters to the lane.

Sitting room - 18' 1'' x 15' 3'' (5.51m x 4.64m)

This is a large room with great character and a south east facing triple casement window with a window seat set into a wall with waist height wainscotting. There is a painted exposed beam and a very large granite and limestone fireplace with an oak bressemer beam, a bread oven, a stone and slate hearth and an open flue. Presently there is an electric flame effect stove installed for simplicity. On the opposite side of the room is a beautiful oak plank and muntin screen with a doorway to the dining room and there is a pair of glazed double doors and two steps through to the kitchen.
