Monte Rosa was built in 1870 as a hotel and was converted many years ago into five spacious flats. No.4 has large sash windows for good natural light and solid wood floors throughout the apartment. It has gas fired central heating and is in good decorative order. The accommodation comprises a big hall, a bright lounge, a kitchen/dining room, a large bathroom and two good double bedrooms. Fowlers strongly recommend viewing this home to properly appreciate it.
Monte Rosa is located just 300 metres from the countryside and a similar distance to the bustling town square in the ancient stannary town of Chagford. The town has a wide variety of day to day and specialist shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. It has a primary school, pre school and Montessori and a parish church, Roman Catholic church and a chapel. The town is surrounded by countryside, riverside and moorland walks and has excellent amenities with a football and cricket pitch, a tennis club, bowling club, skate park, playground and an open air swimming pool in the summertime. The A30 dual carriageway is only about 5 miles away and the County Town of Exeter is just 20 miles.
From the car parking area at the rear of Monte Rosa a concrete staircase rises to a paved communal sitting area where the front door to the upper flats' shared hallway is to be found. Inside the door is a smart carpeted hallway with post boxes and an access to an inner hall where the solid pine front door to No.4 is located.
The hall has a part laminated and part quoir matting covered floor with a tall ceiling, a recessed area for coats and shoes, three wall light points, pine panelled doors to all rooms, an attractive porthole inner window with blue glass, a telephone point and a single panel radiator. All switches and plug points are a stainless steel finish.
This is an attractive room with an arched recess at one end featuring recessed base units with a broad ceramic tiled worktop incorporating a single drainer stainless steel sink with glass tiled splashbacks, a chromed mixer tap and wall mounted shelving. The cupboards and drawers are finished with a metal trim and blue doors and there is a four spot light lighting fixture above. There are additional matching base units with tiled worktops and space for the gas cooker. The floor is old pine floorboards and there is a large double glazed window. The Ariston mains gas fired central heating boiler is concealed in a wall cabinet. A central ceiling light is fitted above the dining area and the plugs and switches are all stainless steel. A double panel radiator is fitted.
A bright lounge with two big pine framed sash windows overlooking the communal garden, a coved ceiling, a central light point and a recessed brick fireplace with a wood burning stove and a slate hearth. The floor is old pine boards, there is a TV point, a large double panel radiator and stainless steel switches and plug points.
A good size room, currently used as a study, but of ample dimensions and capable of fitting a king size bed, wardrobe and dresser. There is a large pine sash window, a pendant light point and a large single panel radiator.
A good size double bedroom with two large pine sash windows, a tall ceiling, a pendant light point, a large single panel radiator, stainless steel switches and plug points and a range of open storage/wardrobe units.
A generous bathroom with a tall ceiling and a claw foot cast iron slipper bath, a high level w.c. with chromed fittings, a porcelain sink set on top of a hand built pine vanitary unit and a corner shower with two fully tiled walls, a built in thermostatic shower and a glass shower screen and door. There is a pine framed sash window, a chromed heated and plumbed towel rail, a double panel radiator and a pine floor.
Monte Rosa has a communal garden which is largely laid to grass with mature borders and shrubs and a lovely magnolia tree.
No.4 Monte Rosa has two parking spaces in the private off street car park.
Set in the car park alongside the exterior steps is a timber framed shed with a corrugated metal roof and double doors. This is for the sole use of No.4 Monte Rosa.

Mains gas, water, electricity and drainage.
From Fowlers front doors turn right and walk down out of The Square into Southcombe Street which becomes Lower Street. After the road narrows, as it is just beginning to widen again, on your right, is a five bar gate. Walk through this gate, under the archway and on the left are the concrete steps which lead to the communal entrance. If you drive down follow the same directions but instead of driving through the 5 bar gate take the next right into Bretteville Close and park in the private car park behind Monte Rosa.
